Use this tool to divide the PCD of a flange into equal spaces in just a few seconds. Just enter the pitch circle diameter (PCD), select number of divisions and click the button.

PCD Divider Tool - Overview

This calculator helps you know the dimensions (chord length) of the compass opening when you mark the same locations on a circle PCD. It is useful for drilling holes, and creating geometric patterns.

How To Calculate PCD?

The calculation of chord length is given below, which is based on the following formula:

Chord Length = PCD × sin(π/n), or 2R × sin(θ/2)

Assume circle PCD 200 mm and number of divisions 4.

Therefore, Chord length = 200 × sin(π/4) = 200 × 0.7071 = 141.42 mm.

  • PCD = Pitch Circle Diameter
  • n = Number of divisions
  • π = Pi is approximately 3.14159

Note: Chord length is the straight line distance between two points on the circumference of a circle.

Uses of PCD Calculation Tool

  • Use this calculator to divide a flange PCD or gear face into equal segments using a compass.
  • When you need to divide the PCD of any flange by compass for drilling.
  • TThis calculator is useful in machining, flange hole marking (PCD), mechanical design, DIY projects and many more.
  • The calculator supports units like mm, cm or inches, which are applicable to every engineering company.

Note:You get the accurate compass opening values without CAD software. So it is very useful when you are calculate manually and it save your time.
