Pipe Cross Section

This weight calculation tool helps you to calculate weight in just a few seconds. You can use it to calculate weight for any type of materials, which are included in the dropdown menu. So use it for error-free results and save your precious time.

How to use this weight calculator?

To use it, simply enter the outside diameter, wall thickness, length and material type; then click calculate.

  • Outer Diameter: This is outer diameter of the pipe.
  • Wall Thick: Check the wall thickness by vernier, or subtracting the inside diameter from the outside diameter.
  • Length: This is length of the pipe.
  • Material Type: By default it has MS Pipe selected, but you can change it.
  • Density: This is an important part of the weight calculation, as each material has different density.

Note: All the dimensions and density of the material must be correct to get accurate weighing results. To get the density, you can visit this page.

Formula:

The weight of the pipe is calculated using the following formula:

  1. Cross-sectional area = π(R₁² - R₂²)
  2. Volume = Area × Length
  3. Weight = Volume × Density
